We are seeking a dynamic SMERF Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal (SMERF) Sales Manager with a minimum of two (2) years hotel sales experience that possesses strong abilities to solicit business, attaining client satisfaction with all functions/groups booked. Must have strengths in achieving sales targets, managing key accounts, and developing strategic business relationships.

What you will be doing

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify, prospect, and secure new SMERF business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline through networking, referrals, industry events, trade shows, and sales calls.
  • Conduct site inspections, property tours, and client presentations.
  • Negotiate contracts, room blocks, meeting space agreements, and event packages.
  • Achieve or exceed assigned revenue, occupancy, and room-night goals.
  • Effectively manage the RFP process.

Account Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Serve as the primary contact throughout the sales process.
  • Conduct post-event follow-up to strengthen long-term partnerships.

Revenue Management & Strategy

  • Develop market-specific sales plans and action strategies.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs.
  • Forecast group room revenue and booking pace.
  • Collaborate with revenue management teams to maximize profitability.

Event Coordination

  • Coordinate with operations, catering, banquet, and convention services teams.
  • Communicate event requirements and client expectations.
  • Ensure smooth transition from sales to event execution.
  • Resolve issues proactively to maintain guest satisfaction.

REQUIREMENTS: Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hospitality sales, group sales, or hotel sales experience.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with CRM and hotel sales systems such as Delphi preferred.
  • Ability to travel locally for sales calls, networking events, and trade shows.
  • Strong organizational, time management skills, with keen sense of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, clients, and other team members.
  • Maintain professional and friendly demeanor with clients during high pressure events.

Friendwell Managed Hotels function twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. As a part of the hospitality industry, a hospitable service atmosphere must be maintained at all times. All employees are required to project a friendly, welcoming, and positive attitude.
