Position Summary

MBX Biosciences is looking to hire a Director of Business Development who, in partnership with our Chief Business Officer, is responsible for identifying, developing, and scaling revenuegenerating partnerships, growth initiatives, and new business development opportunities. This role plays a critical part in shaping the company's growth strategy, expanding market presence, and building longterm value through strategic relationships.

Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, the Director of Business Development works crossfunctionally with R&D, Commercial, Finance, and Legal to evaluate opportunities, structure partnerships, negotiate agreements, and ensure successful execution. The ideal candidate combines strong scientific acumen, commercial instincts, analytical rigor, executive presence, and a track record of closing complex, highvalue deals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company's business development strategy in alignment with overall growth and revenue objectives.
  • Along with our Chief Business Officer, identify, evaluate, and pursue, partnerships, and revenue opportunities to expand the company's footprint.
  • Lead cross-functional due diligence, prepare partnering materials, terms sheets, conduct technical and business evaluations, market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling to inform strategic decisions and investment priorities.
  • Lead competitive intelligence efforts, including monitoring competitor activity, market trends, and emerging threats or opportunities
  • Represent the company at industry events, partnering and scientific/medical conferences, and networking forums, strengthening brand presence and generating new opportunities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor internally and externally, providing sound judgment, strategic insight, and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in business development, or related corporate or R&D roles, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Proven track record of sourcing, structuring, negotiating and closing sell-side pharmaceutical partnerships
  • Demonstrated expertise in pharmaceutical drug research and development and understanding of intellectual property and contracting; prior alliance management experience is a plus.
  • Strong experience with competitive intelligence, including market analysis, competitor tracking, pricing analysis, and trend identification.
  • Analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights and recommendations.
  • Exceptional relationshipbuilding skills with experience managing seniorlevel stakeholders including partners, investors, and executives.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, with executive presence and the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience representing an organization at industry events, conferences, and external forums.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fastpaced, evolving environment.
  • High level of professionalism, judgment, integrity, and accountability.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Legal teams.

Travel

You will be expected to travel periodically based on the needs of the business to the extent requested by the Company, including attendance at Together Weeks, Together Days, and functional meetings as requested by the Company.
