Business Development Job Description

Position Overview:

The Business Development Representative is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with referral sources, increasing brand awareness, and driving admissions to the facility. This position requires knowledge of Missouri regulations pertaining to addiction treatment (including relevant sections under the Department of Mental Health and the Missouri Credentialing Board), and strict adherence to ethical marketing and outreach practices in compliance with federal and state laws, including HIPAA and the Substance Abuse Confidentiality Regulations (42 CFR Part 2). The representative will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that individuals in need of SUD treatment have timely access to appropriate care.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and execute strategic outreach initiatives to generate referrals and increase facility census.

· Establish and maintain strong relationships with referral sources, including healthcare providers, hospitals, behavioral health agencies, criminal justice organizations, employers, community organizations, and insurance providers.

· Educate referral partners on the facility’s treatment programs and clinical services offered.

· Represent the facility at conferences, networking events, community meetings, and industry functions to enhance visibility and credibility.

· Track and analyze referral trends, conversion rates, and market demands to optimize outreach strategies.

· Work closely with the admissions team to ensure a seamless intake process for referred clients.

· Ensure all marketing and outreach efforts comply with ethical guidelines, Missouri state regulations, and federal laws regarding patient privacy and addiction treatment advertising.

· Develop and distribute educational materials, presentations, and other marketing content tailored to diverse referral sources.

· Conduct facility tours for potential referral partners, clients, and their families.

· Collaborate with the clinical and leadership teams to align business development efforts with treatment services and organizational goals.

· Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes (including those issued by the Missouri Credentialing Board and Department of Mental Health), and best practices in SUD treatment and behavioral health marketing.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, healthcare administration, behavioral health, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in business development, marketing, outreach, or admissions within the healthcare or behavioral health industry, preferably in a residential SUD treatment setting.

· Familiarity with Missouri regulations governing addiction treatment services and ethical marketing practices.

· Experience working with referral sources, insurance providers, or community stakeholders in the behavioral health field.

· Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to analyze data and market trends to inform outreach strategies.

· Strong organizational and time management abilities.

· Knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and ethical marketing practices in addiction treatment.

· Proficiency in customer relationship management (CRM) software and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Must pass a background check and drug screening.

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to referral sites and networking events.

· Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed for events and meetings.
