Job Summary

The Senior Director, Business Development is responsible for developing and executing enterprise-wide growth strategies that expand market share, increase revenue, and strengthen strategic customer relationships. This role serves as a key member of the commercial leadership team, partnering closely with executive leadership, operations, estimating, project management, and functional leaders to identify, pursue, and secure profitable business opportunities. The Senior Director leads strategic market expansion initiatives, cultivates executive-level customer relationships, and drives long-term business growth across MasTec's infrastructure services portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with corporate growth objectives, market conditions, and customer priorities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and key customer relationships to drive sustainable revenue growth.
  • Leverage and expand executive-level customer relationships to increase market penetration and secure large-scale, strategic projects.
  • Lead enterprise-level opportunity planning, capture management, and pursuit strategies for high-value and complex business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to establish growth targets, market expansion strategies, and annual business development plans.
  • Provide market intelligence, competitive analysis, and industry insights to inform strategic decision-making and investment priorities.
  • Direct and oversee a disciplined business development process, including pipeline management, forecasting, opportunity qualification, and performance reporting.
  • Partner with operations, estimating, and project leadership teams to develop competitive and profitable proposals, bids, and customer solutions.
  • Lead negotiations and collaborate with legal counsel on contract strategy, commercial terms, and risk mitigation for major customer agreements.
  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing business development teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, customers, trade associations, and strategic partners.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, customer meetings, networking events, and strategic business forums.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment among business units to maximize customer value, operational capabilities, and growth opportunities.
  • Monitor business development performance metrics and provide executive leadership with regular updates on pipeline health, market trends, revenue forecasts, and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead customer acquisition, retention, and account growth initiatives across targeted markets and service offerings.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic growth initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Marketing, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Ten (10)+ years of progressive business development, sales, operations, or commercial leadership experience, including significant experience within the infrastructure, utility, engineering, or construction industries.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing growth strategies that drive substantial revenue and market expansion.
  • Proven experience managing large, complex pursuits and strategic customer relationships.
  • Strong understanding of underground utility infrastructure, construction delivery methods, and project lifecycle management.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office applications, and business performance reporting tools.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively, including overnight travel as required.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.
