What is the opportunity?

A Vice President (VP) in the U.S. Real Estate Corporate Banking Group will lead and execute all aspects of the business, including origination, structuring, and execution of new real estate loans, as well as asset management of the existing loan portfolio. The VP will optimize RBCs balance sheet in alignment with Capital Markets, Investment Banking, and Sales & Trading relationship goals, while interfacing directly with clients and quarterbacking credit submissions in collaboration with Global Investment Banking (GIB) and product partners. This role also involves mentoring and directing junior team members (Analysts) to ensure seamless transaction execution and portfolio management.

What will you do?

  • Client and Transaction Leadership: Serve as the primary client interface for real estate corporate banking transactions, including revolvers, term loans, single-asset mortgages, bridge loans, acquisition facilities, and NAV facilities across all property types.
  • Credit Submission Quarterbacking: Lead the preparation and presentation of credit submissions, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and strategic objectives. Collaborate closely with GIB, Risk Management, and Credit Portfolio Management.

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the asset management of the existing loan portfolio, monitoring performance, industry trends, and market conditions. Proactively identify risks and recommend amendments/waivers as needed.
  • Team Leadership: Provide direction to junior team members (analysts), delegating tasks, reviewing work, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. Foster a collaborative team environment with Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, and other stakeholders.
  • Operational Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks and control deficiencies. Ensure compliance with firm policies and promptly escalate issues to management and relevant risk functions.
  • Pipeline and Reporting: Manage and update pipeline reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Analyze loan terms across transactions to inform structuring decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison with back and middle office functions, ensuring smooth transaction closings, loan funding, and portfolio administration.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum of 68 years of relevant experience in Corporate Banking, Real Estate Finance, or Corporate Lending, with a proven track record of leading transactions.
  • Strong financial modeling, credit analysis, and structuring skills.
  • Exceptional client relationship management and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior team members while managing multiple high-priority projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in syndicated loans and collaborating with Investment Banking and product partners.

Nice to have:
