About the Role\:

The Event Sales Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the event identity of Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni. This position is responsible for both the sales and servicing of groups and events, managing the client journey from initial inquiry and proposal development through planning, coordination, and on-site execution. With a refined focus on cultivating inbound opportunities and proactively engaging new and established clientele, this leader drives the hotel's event business forward through strategic prospecting, relationship building, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Ideal candidates will bring demonstrated experience within a luxury hotel or comparable environment, paired with strong business acumen, exceptional communication skills, and an intuitive ability to build and sustain meaningful client partnerships. A self-directed, polished, and solutions-oriented approach is essential.

Responsibilities include the full spectrum of event managementfrom generating new business opportunities and negotiating contracts to coordinating event details, managing client communications, and ensuring seamless execution of each event experience. The role also encompasses hosting clients for immersive site visits and entertainment engagements, conducting strategic sales calls, and representing the hotel at key client and industry events.

Candidates must possess a deep understanding of the local social events market and corporate events landscape, along with insight into the competitive set for luxury special events. Our Event Sales Manager will be driven by a passion for exceeding event revenue goals while delivering exceptional service that fosters client loyalty and repeat business.

The successful candidate will seamlessly integrate Hyatt's brand philosophy into every stage of the client journey, cultivating long-term relationships through personalized service and the creation of memorable, high-touch event experiences.

Salary range\: $70,000-$80,000

Visa Requirements\: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in a similar role, ideally within a luxury hotel environment

  • Prior experience with Hyatt or another globally recognized luxury hospitality brand is highly valued

  • Candidates should be extremely detail oriented and organized

  • Working closely with the Director of Sales, Events & Marketing and Food & Beverage team to develop and implement strategies to maximize business levels.

  • Building and maintaining strong client relations and develop accounts to increase market share across all revenue streams locally, nationally and internationally.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time.

  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, ability to action as required.
