Territory Sales Representative Requirements & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the lighting industry
  • Experience with commercial, architectural, or wholesale lighting products
  • Strong, established network within the lighting sector
  • Proven record of revenue growth, new business development, and account expansion
  • Experience selling through manufacturers, distributors, rep agencies, contractors, or related channels
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and able to operate independently
  • Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel throughout the territory

Territory Sales Representative Preferred Background & Skills

  • Previous roles with lighting manufacturers, commercial or architectural lighting firms, or rep agencies
  • Established relationships with national and regional lighting representatives, electrical distributors, contractors, architects, designers, or specifiers
  • Demonstrated success generating new business and managing a defined territory
  • Executive presence and persuasive, influential approach

Territory Sales Representative Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Manage and expand a portfolio of existing customer accounts across Northern New Jersey and the New York metro area
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and leveraging industry relationships
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with distributors, contractors, architects, designers, and channel partners
  • Conduct customer meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to deliver outstanding customer service and ensure successful project execution
  • Track pipeline activity, report on territory performance, and meet or exceed annual sales targets
