Position Summary
The Marketing & Business Development Associate will design and execute the firm's external communications and growth strategy on a part-time basis. Working directly with firm leadership, this person will establish our digital presence from the ground up, cultivate relationships with prospective clients, and support business development activities including outreach, networking, and events. This is a hands-on role well-suited to a resourceful individual who is comfortable working independently and building systems from scratch.
Candidate will work remotely.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Presence & Communications
Design, build, and maintain the firm's website, ensuring it accurately reflects our portfolio, services, and brand identity
Establish and manage the firm's Instagram and LinkedIn profiles, developing a consistent posting cadence and visual style
Create and distribute a regular client newsletter, including content development, list management, and performance tracking
Business Development
Research and compile shortlists of prospective clients including developers, property owners, architects, and public agencies aligned with the firm's target markets
Conduct systematic outreach to shortlisted prospects via email, LinkedIn, and other channels; track and follow up on leads
Support proposal preparation and introductory materials as needed
Networking & Events
Represent the firm at local industry events, trade associations, and community gatherings
Identify and recommend relevant events, sponsorship opportunities, and speaking engagements
Help organize or host occasional firm-sponsored events or client appreciation activities
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who brings a combination of creative skill and practical follow-through. The ideal candidate will have:
Experience building or managing websites (portfolio or examples welcome)
Demonstrated proficiency with Instagram and LinkedIn for professional or business purposes
Strong writing skills clear, warm, and professional in tone
Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar)
Comfort with prospecting and outreach you don't shy away from making the first move
Excellent organizational habits and the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently
An interest in construction, real estate, or the built environment is a plus, but not required
Prior experience in or alongside small businesses is valued
Compensation & Logistics
Part-time engagement; hours flexible and to be negotiated
Compensation commensurate with experience; open to hourly or project-based arrangements
Primarily remote with occasional in-person meetings in Monte Rio or surrounding area
Start date: as soon as the right person is identified
