WAGO is seeking a dynamic and technically-oriented Business Development Manager to drive growth of our electrical interconnect product by securing print position at equipment OEMs in a variety of industrial and lighting industry applications. The primary responsibilities of this individual are to develop and execute the sales, market, and application strategy to target and develop design-in opportunities with device OEMs with both target accounts and geographic markets while coordinating and cooperating with global colleagues as required for fulfillment.

This position requires engagement with electronic hardware design engineers at industrial and commercial device manufacturers in targeted growth industries to design in/develop print-position/ create demand for WAGO PCB and other interconnect component products and custom electronic assemblies in an assigned base geography and with specific focused target accounts (regardless of ultimate build or purchase location). The position works in close alignment with Business Unit Director - DCT and Lighting, and Product Management - PCB Interconnect for strategic target identification and value proposition development/communication. This position acts in conjunction/partnership with geographic and global sales personnel to manage customer and commercial topics but is to be the LEAD for such topics at target accounts as it relates to assigned product categories. The role is to be additionally utilized by field sales for product, technical, and application expertise within assigned geography.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical discipline
- 3+ years of proven success in B2B Industrial or Electronic Sales or Account Management required.
- Industry/Application experience in HVAC, Building Automation, Lighting, Fire & Security, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, Instrumentation, or Electric Drive/motion control markets a benefit
- Knowledge of the manufacturing and design of electronic devices at the PCB level a plus
- Understanding of the roles and influence of distribution, EMS provider, and OEM in such projects
- International business experience a plus
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with a passion for new design-in opportunities, persuasive/collaborative selling, customer/account development, and a strong work ethic
- Must demonstrate ability to manage varied tasks and possess excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate-able Microsoft Office suite proficiency.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiate and Drive demand creation activities with OEM electrical and electronic hardware designers to capture and grow WAGO Device Connection Technology business globally
- Develop proficiency with interconnect products, applications and corresponding solutions to become the consultant to the customer, field sales and channel partners
- Identify, establish, develop and maintain relationships with engineering decision makers and contacts at potential and existing OEM accounts to understand and apply current product solutions, as well as to understand future needs as an input to product development
- As required by the global nature of the PCB supply chain, document (in CRM) design wins to provide a clean project handoff to WAGO subsidiaries in build/purchase locations
- Support, participate in, and lead PCB Interconnect product training for channel partners and OEM customers
- Together with your international team colleagues you will also provide direct voice of the customer input to the development of new PCB connection technology
- Participation and assistance with organizing trade fairs and participation in social media platform promotion efforts
- Work as a team player to make a difference for WAGO's global business by sharing and applying best practices with Field Sales and the rest of the DCT Business Development team
- Focus on engagement with the customer-travel as necessary to call on / educate / introduce new products / support design efforts of 15-20 customers per week within assigned base geography and at assigned target accounts.
- As business opportunities and customer structures dictate, travel to and engagement outside of the base geography may be required, at the direction of the Director - Business Development DCT (Americas)
Additional Responsibilities:
- Must be able to travel via airplane
- Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Travel estimate 50%. International travel and travel to corporate headquarters will also be required on a periodic basis
