Rapiscan Systems is a leading manufacturer of security and inspection systems and markets its products world wide. Our products are used for the non intrusive inspection of people, baggages, vehicles and cargo in order to detect weapons, explosives, drugs, nuclear materials and devices as well as other types of contraband.**This position will be responsible for developing Government Research & Development business opportunities with*various branches/ agencies of the US Government.This position is based in Washington DC. Responsible for developing Government Research & Development business opportunities with the various branches/ agencies of the US Government, including but not limited to the following: DHS, DOD, DOE.Position requires sales and marketing skills and the ability to interface with the Science & Technology departments of the government agencies to develop new opportunities.Responsible for putting together a business plan to increase Government R&D business with potential for additional revenue for Rapiscan Systems.Facilitate communication between Rapiscan Technical Program Managers/ Scientists and corresponding Government customers. Cultivate, enhance and grow relationships at all levels within the customer organization.Develop solid understanding of customer requirements and budget cycles so as to successfully champion and win Rapiscan related programs and R&D efforts. Represent Rapiscan at customer events and briefings.Work independently as well as with Rapiscan's Government Sales team to get funding for R&D programs.Perform special projects as needed.Manages the Director of Govt R&D Business Development.Must have excellent customer contacts as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.Ideal candidate is one who is currently or has interfaced* directly with the Science & Technology Directorates of the various government agencies and generated R&D business of at least $50M/year.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum of fifteen years related experience, including a minimum of five years Technical Marketing / Sales. Must be able to operate at a strategic business level while offering full support to the day-to-day operations of the business. Solid understanding of budgeting and funding cycles at DOD, DHS, DOE and other government agencies.Must have solid relationships with individuals in government responsible for initiating and funding R&D programs. Candidates are expected to be self starters that will learn fast and quickly evolve such that they can work independently.
