Title Director of Sales

Job summary
Plans, implements and conducts resort sales, targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Assumes lead sales position actively initiating sales calls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Strategic:
- Actively involved in sales process, and carries a portfolio of clients.
- Develops and implements strategic sales plans in conjunction with marketing plans and forecasts to achieve objectives for convention/resort sales and services.
- Develops and recommends convention/resort-hotel/planning sales and service pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
- Oversees and evaluates sales and market research and adjusts sales strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions. Monitors competitor sales and marketing activities.
- Ensures effective control of sales results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of sales objectives falls within designated budgets.
- Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness.
Operational:
- Develops and manages sales and planning operating budgets.
- Guides preparation and presentation of sales activity reports.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
- Meets with key clients, assisting sales and planning representatives with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
Supervisory:
- Responsible for recruitment, selection and development of the sales team.
- Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales programs.
- Recommends compensation of the sales team, including performance bonus program.
- Directs and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
Industry:
- Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
- Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.
- Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all convention/resort services, promotional materials, and events.
Administrative/Executive:
- Coordinates liaison between sales and planning departments and other operation related departments.
- Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications.
- Actively participates as a member of the resort lead management team.
- Seeks to clearly understand and follow company guidelines, policies and procedures

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree in Sales, Marketing or Business preferred with a minimum of seven years related experience with progressive managerial responsibilities.
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be able to demonstrate in-depth sales/marketing techniques and financial principles. Must have the ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-management, internal and external customers.
REASONING ABILITY
Must have ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
